Post Your Most Uneducated Comments Ever Received In Detailing History
Fellow Geeks,
Please post your most uneducated comments you have received in detailing history. I dont see this anywhere on the forums, but most of the times I laugh it off when I hear some comments about my car:
1) They say wow that car is really shiny probably because Lexus paint, little do they know that Lexus paint also has their issues. I ask you need a detailer? They say no I have one, I take a real look at the car and see the car and
2) Wow that guy's a loser, he probably spends hours on his car each day to make it so shiny. In reality, I only have enough time to commit 30 mins to it weekly and can probably get by far superior results than any car wash here, but little do they know I can get my car done in less time it takes one to drive to the wash and wait in line =). I really want to be able to help people like this, but they dont want to listen.
Post some of your comments ever received. Maybe us Geeks can take out our frustration here. Not sure if this is the correct post for this sub forum Auto Detailing 101, but here she goes! I have heard a lot more but only the above two comes to mind at this time. Lets share some comments, I know you've heard something outrageous before being auto geeks and all...

"I've been using glass cleaner to clean my paint for years". I have seen people, with cars, do this at cruise nights 😩

I get your gonna wax the paint off the car ,how is that even possible you couldn't do it if you tried.Or did you wax the car. Some nubas drag and paint sealants give you that smooth velvety feeling. The worst is and aggravates me is some guy yelling across the parking lot asking me how much to wax his car.Thank God for wireless beats headsets I just ignore them.just yesterday a neighbor ask me to look at his Toyota he has scratches.I go and look at the car after a 10 hr non stop workday and the bumper is buckled and looks like he parked it in Manhattan for a year there was no paint in all the scuffs and scratches. Sometimes I ask myself how did these people come this far in life.I got plenty more but it's time to go to work.

Once while I was in Target buying a bottle of Meg's Ultimate Spray Wax - minding my own business - the guy next to me explained how good old carnauba wax was better then that fake stuff. According to him over time carnauba builds up a "permanent layer" on the car so you don't have to wax it anymore. If this wasn't enough, he went on to tell me he used to be a detailer in Hawaii - so you know, he has credibility on the matter. Who knew!
I just smiled, muttered something like "how about that", and walked away.

"Did you hear the new Kwik Trip (gas station) upgraded their touchless car wash, with a new premium "soft-touch" spinning brushes". $12 buys you the extra cost swirls and scratches. $7 still gets you the touchless.

Shouldn't Caution Be Taken On How
The Word Uneducated Is Used?
•Usually, when I hear the word uneducated
being thrown around, I see it as a means
for someone trying to find, allegedly, a nicer
way to call people dumb.
•IMO:
-The problem with that is: it’s not
too nice! And it’s...well...it's an
uneducated thing to say.
•The long and short of it:
-I'm a firm believer that there’s a
huuuge difference between being
uneducated and miseducated.

I Agree, it's not nice and Im not trying to bash on anyone, but I guess I experienced some frustrations starting this detailing gig. I am having a hard time educating the uneducated and they just dont want to listen and look at me all crazy. I been there done that, but everyday is an improvement especially with this forum and how everyone has their way of doing things. I am willing to learn new and educate myself even further especially with the ag forum.

lmao, to be fair some people only see their cars as transportation and not as an extension of their personality like we do
