    Questions regarding health

I have been detailing for over 25 years. In those years I have used thousands of different products and have not always used the proper protective gear. As I get older I follow the recommended ways to protect oneself from the hazards of all the chemicals but wonder if any of you who might read this have any medical or health issues that stem from repetitive use of any chemicals such as wheel acid, any degreaser or other chemicals used in detailing.

My wife started helping me full time about a year ago and has now developed almost the exact same nerve pain in her hands that I have. It could be diagnosed as carpel tunnel but the inquisitive in me wonders if the use of stronger chemicals such as wheel acids or purple power(which we have made on site in a 55 gallon drum) could be causing long term damage.

My question is have any of you experienced similar issues with nerve pain in your hands? Continuous use of buffers can cause "White Finger" but my beautiful wife only does my interiors since she is not comfortable putting a machine on paint.

Sorry no answers for you, but it is nice to have your wife work with you.

IMO the nerve pain is from the physical work she is doing on the interiors, not from the chemicals. People can get carpal tunnel or "repetitive motion injury" from things other than using a buffer.

Yeah if it were from the chemicals, I'd venture to say that it won't/wouldn't have stopped in your hands. And I'd think you'd have other nerve issues

Best you see a specialist like a Neurologist who can do nerve conduction studies to see what's wrong with the nerves.

Don't know the answer, but wear gloves when using any chemicals and a respirator if spraying.

    Re: Questions regarding health

I've been (regrettably) immersing my hands in oil, gasoline, diesel, acetone, thinners, you name it for over 30 years. Do I wish I had been a little smarter & protected myself better? Sure.

Luckily, (other than dry, rough hands at times), I haven't experienced any nerve damage, or noticeable pain.

I know everyone is different. Just my two cents on the subject.
It is no coincidence that man's best friend cannot talk.
