Coatings - Next Round: Applicators (more first timer Qs)
I know this has been covered in the past, but my searching of the archives leads to many hits buried in a lot of threads. I've been following the thread http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/...rst-timer.html , and thought about posting this in there, but didn't want to sidetrack it.
Wondering what people's preferred applicators are for coatings? If it matters, specifically I'm interested in the McKee's 37 and Optimum Glosscoat, but I'm guessing it's pretty universal?
Curious about both the applicator and what your microfiber of choice is for leveling / buffing off.
I bought the Glosscoat kit through AG, but have been a little hesitant to use the Gold Plush Jr that came with it (for buffing) only because of how much shedding it did during the unboxing and post-initial-wash lint rolling. I'd hate to put a "long term" coating on and end up with fuzz trapped in it.

I've used the LC Foam applicators for McKees and Wolfgang Uber Ceramic and they worked well; may soak up a bit more product but they worked: Lake Country Coating Applicator
Wanna try to foam block/microsuede that other coatings use sometime to see how they work with McKees:
CarPro Cquartz Applicator
CarPro Suede Microfiber Cloths, micro cloth, microfibre
GYEON Applicator Foam Block
GYEON Microfiber Suede Applicator Towel, 4 x 4 - 10 pack
Have used these towels for polish/compound/wax/coating removal and have had no issues: 12 Pack Edgeless Polishing Cloths

Suede towels will not lint.

I've used both Gloss Coat and Pinnacle Black Label.
Seeing as the application is similar with Pinnacle Black Label and McKee's I found that a yellow foam applicator or the lake country coating applicators work best with PBL.
With Gloss Coat I have tried both the carpro suede applicator and block as well as the included blue foam applicator that comes with gloss coat. Both work. But the blue foam applicator works much better and is easier to manipulate. It does not absorb a lot of product like some think. I used about the same amount of product with either applicator. Actually a little less with the blue foam applicator.
There is a video on the rag company youtube channel with Yvan showing how to prime the blue foam applicator.
I've used the gold plush jr's for both coatings with no issues. I did wash them before I used them.

I was a bit ambiguous there - I was worried about the removal towel linting, not so much the applicator.
Thanks all for the input so far!!

Use the 4"X4" suede towel to apply and use the 16"X16" suede towel to remove = no lint.

I literally use CarPro blocks and 4"x4" suedes with every single coating I apply. The blocks have slits cut on the sides to tuck the suede towel into.
