    micro marring

i worked on the trunk of my 318i (swirls, water spots, ect) with PC

i worked with XMT #3 via LC orange pad @ speed 5 and XMT #1 via LC white pad @ speed 5 topped with NXT Tech wax

and still i have fine micro marring i cant get rid of... im doing everything from going 1 inch/second, 50% overlapping, 3-5 min to work in polish, 2x2 area, and using pad conditioner

WHAT AM I DOING WRONG!!!??? do i need a menz nano polish???

Pinnacle medium swirl remover w/ orange pad followed by Pinnacle ultra fine swirl remover w/finish pad worked well for my car with the same issues. Perhapes the XMT 360 just isnt enough for your problem.

Try speed 6 and move more slowly, like 1/2 in per sec and do side to side and up and down passes. This along with xmt 1 should do it. Be sure to spur your pad after every section to get rid of build up of polish. Use only two small dabs per section. Too much polish will not break down properly. Good Luck!

Do you have any pictures? Micromarring, to me, is light hazing from using an aggressive pad or compound. They may look like little semi-circles or light lines. If this is what you are seeing, then the XMT3 with the orange pad was too strong. XMT2 and a polishing pad would probably fix this issue. XMT1, IMO, is too weak to use as a corrective polish... so try XMT2 if you have it or another finishing polish. Also, don't be afraid of speed 6, especially with XMT3.

If the 'micromarring' is your typical spider webbing swirls, and the XMT3 and orange pad didn't remove all of it, the swirls are probably too deep to remove with a PC.

If it really is micromarring try using XMT #3 with the White LC pad, that way you'll remove the marring leaving the surface ready for LSP.

Micromarring often looks like super small hook shaped scratches on a circular pattern.

I found success with similar problem by using Meg #2 with orange pad applied with setting on #6 speed. Follow with fine polish with white pad, then applied lsp.
