Your process looks sound. Like with all of us though, you can read & read & read some more, but nothing takes the place of actually doing it.
What you will find though, is that you'll have the hang of it in no time.
Good luck, brother.

As etnops stated, Wolfgang TSR will work well on that paint. Ive used it on many Tornado red Vdubs man with the 3401. Start at Speed 4 with the orange pad and work for a few passes then slow down. Then you may just need to buzz over it with the white pad and TSR if you don't have anything finer.
A word of caution....this is a big undertaking. If you get frustrated...walk away for a few minutes and clear your head. Don`t rush yourself either. And most of all.....have some fun man!!!!

Just to reiterate what some have said already: If you can get the job with Total Swirl Remover on a orange pad great! Ideally but especially if you do anything more aggressive and being your first time you will want to follow up with a finishing polish. If you are in a bind and determined to do this tomorrow, run to Walmart and grab some Meguiars Ultimate Polish. It is a similar consumer version of M205 (M105 two step companion).
Also M105 from what I hear isn't easy to work with for novices. Not to scare you or anything as such. But I do feel it is a good segway to ask how many pads are you going with? How many you think is enough, often leaves us in hindsight thinking "I should have bought more". Small section passes especially in compounding. Total Swirl Remover has a long working time, take advantage of that. ... This may help keep you away from using M105 and help make Total Swirl Remover an acceptable one step.
PM if you feel uncomfortable still. If I am free tomorrow I'll be happy to guide you through any frustrations.
Thanks for the encouragement, Rod. I have six orange pads. Planning on one for hood and top (2/3 of top is sunroof), one for hatch, one for doors, one for front fenders. I also have a Griots Garage mini for mirrors and bumpers/small places.

You're going to be fine, pj.
I remember my trepidation diving into the machine polisher process. About 1 minute into it, I thought of all the guys that said "You're going to be fine" and smiled. Lol
It is no coincidence that man's best friend cannot talk.

Would you guys/gals check out the plan and tell me if something is missing or it looks good .... kindly, please.
Below is the plan. I will be working with a Flex XC 3401 DA with 5.5" Lake & Country pads:
GTI DETAIL
Wash
Iron X
Foam gun
Clay
Wipe with paint prep
Test spot
***wolfgang tsr 3.0 w/ LC orange pad
***doesnt work - M105 with LC white pad
***doesnt work - M105 with LC orange pad
Ultima Paint Guard Plus (new formula)
Pinnacle Sig Series II carnauba
So fire away ......

Why is M105 so popular when it can be so finicky to use?

Like others have said, you probably want to have a glaze after TSR. I use Wolfgang Finishing Glaze after TSR.

I've used Iron-X and other fallout removers and have never heard of this happening. Do you have any photos of this happening?
