Amateur here with some problems on paint + glass.

Hi guys, I have a 2005 Mustang and i am trying to fix the paint and glass a little bit. I am a good car washer and use the two bucket system and a foam lance. I always wax my cars but I now I see the need to do some paint correction and glass repair. I really want to avoid screwing up my paint. I am compiling a shopping list for black friday so any input would be appreciated!

    Now the issues:

Glass: The car had window tint that had turned purple because of the age. So I peeled it off and put on tuff stuff to remove the adhesive. I was interrupted and had to leave the house. The next weekend when I went to remove it, it had already dried and baked in. I have tried to remove the white residue with: Alcohol, vinegar, goo-gone and probably more stuff that I can't remember right now. I had also bought a 0-0-0-0 wool to try clean up some water spots on the outside that ended up scratching the windshield. What is a good polish for the window or what do you recommend to do? I am about to just replace the glass...

Paint: Car has been repainted but has some over spray and swirls. What do I need to do? I am fairly adept with my hand and have built engines. Any advise or books to read would be great.

    Andrew

Welcome and you're on the right track by coming here for sure.

For paint overspray most of the time you can use a clay to remove that.
Also pictures would be nice for members to see exactly what is on there.

I can see them by clicking on it.
I usually use photobucket to use and just copy ''img'' and post here for people to see.

Hate to say it, but you did something wrong if 0000 steel wool scratched the glass. I have used that stuff extensively & never left a mark. It WILL scratch paint, but not glass. You can also buy a small hand held steamer to remove tint adhesive.
