Spray wax and high humidity

When applying spray wax at dusk and the humidity is above 70%, is that a bad thing?

After trying to buff it off with clean MF towels, it never quite dries! What kind d of mess will I have in the morning after the sun is up and dries my car??������

It should flash just may take longer with the higher humidity. Use all the sides of your MF and switch them out if you have to. Make sure the paint is cool to the touch and shake the wax really good to mix it.

Ha, I guess that depends on the product. Which LSP are you using? How's the towel, fresh or kind of clean (as in used once before) because that might sort of hinder a good lay down. Hello streaks. Oh, you've brought friends.

I ran into this a few days back, high humidity fiercely overcast...."is this fog or light rain?"

Not sure if you feel up to it, but a quick rinseless when the weather clears up would definitely level the finish.

The wax ix already on there... so if I've got a mess after the sun comes up, what would be the fix?

Ah, we both deal with a similar condition. I'm in an area that's nick named Fog City. I park in a semi-opened car port. Dew is a normal thing here.

This is where D114 really shines for me; the reason why I love it so much - leaves the surface clean with nothing behind. In this case it leaves the paint smooth & evenly. As soon as the temp warms up and dew evap, no signs of streaks.

If you have any, that's what I would do. A quick rinseless and it should be good to go.

Ambient temps mid to low 70s..... I would guess panel temps would be the same. Car hasn't been driven in 2 days and was in shade for 2hrs prior to using spray wax.

Working within the humidity and temperature
ranges you listed, tends not to be a factor in
drying/cure-times when applying, and in the
removal, of compounds, polishes, and LSPs.

So the answer to your question
in the OP would be, IMO:
No, it is not that bad of a thing to apply
spray wax at dusk when the humidity
is above 70%...in ~70F ambient temp.

Note:
The dew point would've been ~60-64;
that's probably lower than the panel
temps were, when spray wax was applied.

I run into the same issues when drying and trying to apply a spray wax in late evening. Unfortunately, like Bob mentions, once you start hitting dew point nothing dries very well. I even notice my tools and bucket handles getting slippery with an unseen layer of condensation.

Once you get into that environment, I'm not sure any one product will work better than another. Most recently I've used Blackfire Polymer Spray and Meguiars Ultimate Quick Wax. In both cases, I've used two approaches with reasonable success.

1) Spray/wipe and buff like normal. Then with a fresh dry MF towel, buff a second time to eliminate the streaking...if dew isn't starting to form on the panels. Once dew starts forming, I just hang it up. and go with option #2.

2) Spray/wipe and buff like normal. Wait until the next morning and then LIGHTLY buff away any streaking left over from the previous evening. I'll LIGHTLY mist the towel with the spray wax or a QD spray simply to keep from rubbing a dry towel over the surface.
