garage cabinets
now that all my overhead lighting is done, i need to focus on storage. i am going to build an "L" shaped work bench in the nook i have off of one of the walls, but need to do cabinets. my first thought was just to get contractor grade stuff and go crazy but living in southern NJ means temperature extremes, along with humidity. so, that idea is probably out. i can picture all sorts of warped shelves in short order.
i was thinking custom - not fancy - but doing stuff in the right woods in a sturdy way. this would offer the best use of the space and maybe the most durable overall option, but cost is a major concern there.
so, what is everyone using in their space? i am particularly interested in cabinets that hang, not floor standing stuff.

Re: garage cabinets
I am using Kobalt from Lowes. Quality, and looks nice. They have a nice selection online.

Really like the ones I installed, very easy and sturdy. Check out garagejournal.com for ideas.

Re: garage cabinets
Like my gladiator cabinets. I have premier line, and its handy that I can reorganize the garage as I feel like it, however, I envision at some point in time I'll be redesigning my garage from the ground up with something like NewAge or Saber cabinets.

Re: garage cabinets
I have some Closetmaid cabinets...and they're okay....but wish I'd gone with the Gladiator stuff.....I live in south Jersey too...and I've not had an issue with anything warping...and these have been up for 5 years

I got mine at IKEA. Kitchen cabinets that hang from a wooden support which can be moved. Good construction and inexpensive.

Re: garage cabinets
Unless weight is an issue, (decent) contractor grade cabinet shelves shouldn't sag. I'd still go with a steel cabinet, though. If you aren't picky, keep an eye out for scratch-n-dent sales for either type, or along the curb on trash day.
I have Rubbermaid FastTrack running the full length of both side walls of my garage. I needed a trim piece to cover the joint between the T-111 sheet siding I used to finish the interior walls, and it works great. I have a free cabinet screwed to the wall, but I may hang it and a few others from the track at some point.
If you decide to go with a track system, consider using better screws for attachment. I used GRK Cabinet Screws - they're stronger than the included hardware, and much easier to use. They're also available in stainless steel, if corrosion is a concern.

I went with these. But pay no attention to the price. I found that salvage yard that handles some of Costco's dent and scratch stuff brings it to the TRW swap meet in Redondo Beach. I got seven of them for $80.00 each. I was able to "bodywork" the dents out without too much trouble. Biggest hassle was that only one cabinet at a time would fit in my Explorer.

Re: garage cabinets
Costco has some decent stuff, used them for my garage set up a couple of years ago. With being in a four season climate and non heated garage there hasn't been any issues
