    Menzerna

    Well lads
I'm new to this so just looking for some advise please.
I recently got my championship white ek9 resprayed, when I got it back there was small defects in the paint so I took it upon myself to fix it, I wanted the best finish possible.
I fully wet sanded the car first.
Then I decided to go with menzerna products to polish the paint back up.
I started with menzerna fg400, then 3500 then 3800. I tried one panel first. I used an orange lake country pad with 400, a white pad with 3500 then a blue pad with 3800. I'm using a da. I wasn't 100% satisfied with the finish i thaught it would be more glossy. Maybe I need to use something in between, 2500 maybe? Am I using the right pads??
I've heard a lot about 4500 also so I think I'm going to finish on that, on a black pad maybe?
And then I'm going to finish with a sealent and carnubla wax.
So what I'm looking for on here is for someone to guide me on which polishes I should use with what pads? To remove sanding marks and bring up the best possible shine I can achieve using a da.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

3800 and 4500 are the same. It was just a name change. What grit paper did you use last?

Really? Didn't know that! That's good news! I finished off with 3000 grit

How did it look after the 400? How long ago was it painted? Do you have any pictures?

From what Iv read online, I shouldn't even have to go as low as fg400 to remove the 3000 grit sanding marks and swirl marks? Maybe I'm using he wrong pad? It was taking quite a while to remove all the swirls with fg400 and an orange lake country pad

    Re: Menzerna

Myself personally, whenever I go as far as wetsanding paint, I use a wool or purple foamed wool pad before switching to a foam pad. You may not be getting the gloss you're after because the foam pads aren't aggressive enough in your case- as you've found, it's taking quite awhile to remove the swirls fully. I typically resort to this 2-step method- FG400 + LC Purple Wool (or Twisted Wool if need be), and follow up with PF2500 + LC Orange or White pad, depending on how aggressive I went in the first step. As always, your results are going to vary, so make sure you do a test spot before polishing the entire vehicle.

    Re: Menzerna

One more question.. Is there any point in me using 3500 before 3800?? Will it bring up a better result or just a waste of time?
