Menzerna SF3500 vs. SF4000 - what is right?

The Rupes compounds and polishes are absolute gems, the cut,finish,scents,bottles,nozzles all scream "Premium". Even used it out of the Rupes system on my Flex and had fantastic results.

Besides being high performance, they also wipe clean. I was using SF4000, and Keramik yesterday, and the Keramik wiped away cleaner than the SF. The SF was tacky, sticky in comparison. The Keramik was smooth. Both were fine after ipa wipe.

I've been using a lot the Menz 1500 for hard, modern clearcoats. It is like the 2500 on steroids, but has a lsp ready finish.
I also have the new 2400, which I believe is old 1500, but I haven't used yet.

I had some of that, but sold it. I probably should have tried it first.

What pad to you use? I use LC Flat Pads, so if you could translate that to their color scheme I'd appreciate it.

I used Menzerna (400, 3500) for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I will no longer be using the Meguiar (101, 105, 205). This stuff was awesome.

So I stumbled across the poll, clicked and answered it right away (before bothering to read any replies) and LOOK, I say look a hea' boy (in my best Foghorn Leghorn voice), that Cardaddy was the ONLY one to answer it correctly.

And to think, I figured Mike@DedicatedPerfection woulda' chimed in with the brass ring on this one.

But yeah... I've read about the new Menz labeling/changes a while back. Had folks coming to me for advice, (when I'd been recommending the *old* versions) and needed to make sure they understood which new ones took their places. Does seem confusing though that 4000 ended up being 3500 and 4500 ended up being 3800.

Do have a question though about FG400, or it is now called Heavy Cut 400.... would that be HC400???

That question being... does it dust less than before? If so, then 3D/HD has some serious competition in the 'no dusting' arena. That's where HD (here lately) has been in a league of it's own. But if the new FG/er.... HC 400 doesn't dust then I'll be even more devoted than before. Jus' call me fanboy #2, *behind Mike that is*.

I agree that compounds can finish nice with certain pads.

But using a agressive pad like microfiber cutting, or a agressive foam pad, unless the paint is rock hard it is going to leave some kind of marring.

(DAT abrasives with foam finishes amazing, SMAT on foam finishes ok but not LSP ready)


I used a polishing pad to get great results with 400.

If I used microfiber, it would certainly micro marr.

Foam pads pretty finish pretty nice, it really all depends on the paint your working on.

Seems for sure your certainly working on harder clears.

sorry but you won't get LSP finish with a compound MF pad and FG400.

Now some people have different expectations for LSP ready.

On dark vehicles you need a polish IMO, unless you use a polishing pad..maybe..


On lighter cars, for sure most of the time it looks good enough to just go straight to wax from the compounding step.

Not really, but are sold by the US Menzerna supplier, Jeff Silver.
