    Re: Best radar detectors.

I have an escort 8500 x50 for sale 150 bucks rarely used. I have the case original box and accessories. I think I have the hard wire kit as well so you don't have to use up you cigarette lighter if you don't want to. They are 300 new plus tax and the extras, I would ship it for $150 to the 48. I don't have a need for it anymore. Here is the link to my local craigs list ad escort radar detector like new

Now THAT'S funny but so true, especially with your perfectly detailed car sitting in the garage collecting dust.

I'm trying so hard to slow down but where most people when they drive just see traffic, I see a NASCAR racetrack with large numbers on the cars ahead of me.
I guess if I lived in Wyoming or someplace like that, I could see driving at 90+ on those wide-open and nearly deserted interstates. But here in the D.C. metro area, that kind of speed is nuts. Count me as one of those who mostly drives at the speed limit, and tries to stay to the right unless I am passing (which is rare.) I don't need a detector; they are illegal here in Virginia anyway.

Police forces are switching to laser speed detectors. Radar is gonna be faded out in the next few years. Why spend money on something that will be useless?

That's what I do too. 10 KM/H over the speed limit. I got a ticket recently but I was in a lower limit zone without knowing it. I was going at was I believe was the speed limit... cop even lowered my speed on the ticket to get me to the lower bracket.

People always complain about cops but every time I have been pulled over they did stuff like that for me. I guess being polite is something they don't see often.

The "Polish Radar Detector" works well for me.

I normally cruise at about 5 over until the guy doing 20 over passes me, at which time I up my speed to his and keep a couple hundred feet back in the right lane. It's saved me a number of times from tickets by seeing them slam on their brakes at the site of a LEO.

    Re: Best radar detectors.

I learned a long time ago that limiting your pit stops is the key to rapid travel. Its pretty hard to make up that extra 5 minutes you spent at the gas station.

Anyway, don't forget the "Waze" app for your smart phone. The users mark the position of the police (if they are stationary). So that would be a big help with reference to the guy on the side of the road zapping people with a laser gun. Your radar detector would probably give you warning of the mobile units.

Personally I don't see much value now that highway limits have risen to the realm of reason.

That's called using a rabbit in the radar detector world.
