    Garage Hose Reel Mounting Ideas

Moving to a new house that has the front water spicket inside the garage (1 car Medium Size). The spicket is located on the left side, on the wal in the front of the garage. I am trying to come up with some ideas for a hose reel/mounting. I don't want to buy one of those cheap reels that are stand alone. I am looking to save space, have it very functional and retractable is a plus. Here is what I cam up with so far. Some I might have to mount a 2x4 across 2 studs and then mount it due to the weight.

Cheap, sturdy, lightweight and saves space

    A little nicer

More expensive, heavy duty, retractable, doesn't save space, heavy for stud mount

Option 1 - This option is by far the most reasonably priced of the 3 and isn't prone to failure.

Option 2 - I had option 2 and it didn't last all that long and it's a pain in the ass to reel up.

Option 3 - I'd do some research and see how the 3rd more expensive option rates. If this works as designed and is robust enough to last several years I think this is a slick design. My first question would be how well it reels up 50 to 75 feet of hose full of water?

Have you considered a rapid reel?

I am currently using option one on your list to hang a 100ft 3/4in hose in my garage. Trying to get all of the water out of the hose and coil it up nicely gets old quick.

Avoid Option 2 at all costs; they are plastic, break easily and will need to be replaced every year or so. I agree with purchasing the Rapid Reel.

Re: Garage Hose Reel Mounting Ideas

I have a version of the first with a 75' HD kink free Sears hose. Works for me. I coil it up myself and there is nothing to break. I anchored it into studs and it is not going any where. I takes up less space than the others and I always have trouble with the mechanics on the the others. I had gome through several on the back of the house in the part year and the last to fail was a HD expensive unit..

    I like this device!

It's design shows it's materials have durability written all over it. It is sort of price but then again it's not plastic, it's aluminum....

Re: Garage Hose Reel Mounting Ideas

I have a metal version of the second one except it is free standing. It has lasted at least 4 years outside. My unit has the hose winder to help wind the hose on. I picked it up a HD or Lowes.

I have had an eye on the Rapid Reel since I need a second one but it does not havee a hose winder helper so reviews say getting it on evenly is more difficult.
