Question Opinions on a Bra for a car

We have a Black 96 SVT Cobra. It was a garage queen from the previous owner and is a weekend car for us. Whenever we drive it, it does tend to pick up a lot of bugs on the front. I was able to find for a decent price a black Bra made for our particular model. Being as it was a limited edition and now 17 years old that's hard to find. We had one on our 92 Saturn SC sports coupe from new and it really protected the front end, and caused no problems because it was a plastic car. The front of the Cobra is mainly plastic. So what are your opinions on these? Are they a 90's thing. I admit I rarely see them on cars anymore, but after I clean it up and use the DRColorChip to repair the road rash, it would protect the front. Just looking for other opinions. Thanks much, Dave

I hate them. They constantly rub across the paint installing marring. Eventually they will even wear through the clearcoat or single stage paint.

If you are really worried about bug and rock damage go with a professionally installed clear cover. 3M is the most highly regarded product. But it's not cheap.

Concur. I have a 3M clear bra installed on my car and it does exactly what you are looking for without detracting from the look of the car. It is now 5 years old and I just detailed it with Meguire's Mirror Glaze 17 to bring it back to life.

A clear bra is the only one I'd consider but with the car being a 96' its a little too late to add that now. The other bra's are terrible, terrible lookin' and aren't good for your paint.

I never owned a bra, I just don't like the looks of them on a car. I never had a clear bra either, but if I was to do something along that line, I would be more inclined to go that route.

Clear bra is the way to go, installation by the dealer was a few hours and the prices are reasonable.
