Lighting Your Work Garage -- How Much Light?

I finally have a garage to work in, which is great news, but it needs some of its own work to make it usable for detailing.

In particular, the lone 60W incandescent bulb hanging overhead is.. insufficient.

I want to illuminate the garage to a level that is suitable for doing swirl removal, DA polishing & general detailing with enough light to ensure I am "working clean" and that I can see what the heck I am doing. I want to be able to work at night and/or with the doors closed in colder months.

So anyone have any suggestions on level of light to aim for (lumens/sqft) that is sufficient for that kind of work? My garage is partially finished (walls sheetrocked, ceiling unfinished) with a triangular roof (completely open to the interior)

Specifically what I'm looking for is a recommendation on lumens/sqft (or some other appropriate measure of light/area), and if possible a light style (wraparound, etc.) and mounting position (just ceiling, or perhaps also corner or wall mount for better subject, i.e. side panel, lighting?).

    Thanks!

There are really good past threads on this if you search on them. I used them when setting up the lighting for my garage...
