Maybe I could use an aerosol base coat which they claim is factory matched and followup with the clear coat spray...
There isn't a chance in hell you'd be happy with the results, especially when you discover you've made things 10x worse by spraying lacquer on top of Urethane base paint. You can put urethane on top of lacquer, but not the other way around.

no need to get testy, the guy is just after advise 
my advise would be to polish a small test spot by hand and see if you can improve the situation.if not, then its time to find a good spray shop and hand over some lolly
