Looking for New Products to Pair with My Porter Cable 7424 XP

I have a Porter Cable 7424 XP that I have been using for detailing my own cars. Stumbled across one of Mike Phillip's videos on Making the Metallic Flake POP! I'm interested in getting some new pads and polishes for my DA polisher and could use some advice. That video is quite a few years old so I'm curious if the Optimum Hyper spray products and Lake Country pads are still the best product available or has something come out to make the job even easier?

I'm looking for intermediate level swirl correction and something that will make the factor metallic flake pop on my car.

    Thanks for your input!

Definitely get a 5" backing plate so you can run 5.5" pads. This will allow a bit better power than using 6.5" pads.

The new Meguiars discs are great for this machine. As for chemicals, take your pick between Meguiars, Menzerna, Wolfgang, or Optimum.

I will suggest something that isn't even paint related

The Cyclo Brushes work incredibly well on the PC for scrubbing tires, carpets and Upholstry

    Huge time saver!

Agree with this. I'm a Meguiar's user so I use their D300 compound and M205 polish.

I would suggest who makes the pads is not that critical. Buy whatever you fancy. Optimum Hyper Polish is a nice polish and does provide a very valid alternative to 205. However, as good as these products are, they are limited in terms of absolute cutting capabilities and depending on the paint you may need something stronger. As with my view of pads, who makes the polish is not that critical. Learning to get the best from whatever you own is more important

Never tried the Optimum products, but I think I just watched the video he was talking about.

Totally agree with the pad assessment.

Hyper polish is a very versatile user friendly product. Amount of cut is dependent on what pad you use, cutting, polishing, finishing. I think for a compound I would go with the Menzerna FG400, the Hyper Compound doesn't seem to have much cut on a PC with foam pads. Pads the Meguiars discs are nice pads, so are the LC flat pads.

Who makes the Pads is important

Who makes the Compound is even more important

If we had a "Thanks" button Kyle, I would have hit it for you. I forget about these when I order items.

I would say you're in good hands with Buff and Shine, Lake Country, Meguiar's, and any reputable manufacturer.
