Re: Coating questions
I jumped on the coating wagon this week. (Glad i did!) I went with the DP PAINT COAT. A hybrid if you will. Great first coating if you dont want to commit to a perm coating. One of the most user friendly coatings to use. I was left with a glossy and very slick finish. Prepped with DP PAINT COATING POLISH first. First wash after the coating was insane! DP claims 2 years of protection.

I would recommend CQuartz UK or the new Optimum Glass-Coat. I've been very happy with UK myself.
Tell me more about Optimum Glass-coat (sp). What was you experience with application? Is it slicker than Opti-Coat 2.0?

Everyone I've talked to who has tested it, in preparation for my application has noted publicly and privately it's very slick upon application and is still noticeably slick weeks after. They also praise the gloss. This came from JSmooth from Orinda Detail, and he's someone to trust. I've applied UK and OC and other coatings, so when I review it I'll try and compare best I can.
Back to the full-time grind.

IMO if your looking to "try out" a coating why not start out with something cheaper, like DG or DP, just a thought. With the DG coating kit you get the cleaner aka Squeaky Clean along with an applicator and mf towel, so you get the prep with it.
Which ever product you end up with though remember the golden rule, prep, prep and prep before you apply the coating as its semi permanent!

Re: Coating questions
I have to say while I have installed many coatings one that I have really like in the way if protection and look along with the slickness and beading/sheeting would be GTechniq C1 + 2 coats of EXO.
You can used EXO as a stand alone as well and you will be very impressed. I have on my sisters vehicle OC 2.0, PBL, 22PLE, CQuartz UK, and I just added EXO.
So far the best look would go to EXO and CQUK
beading/sheeting goes to EXO and CQUK
Feel of slickness would be EXO and PBL
If I had to pick a coating I would do either EXO with 2 coats or CQUK
If you want durability and longevity then I would add C1 and the two coats of EXO.

Re: Coating questions
Here are a couple of photos of a Chevy Eqiunox that I coated with Blackfire Crystal Seal roughly 1 year ago. Did the prep work and two coats of product allowing curing in my shop before the next was applied. The car is garaged most times and no other product put on as a topper. The wife rums this car thru the touch-less car wash sometimes as well. I am going to coat this vehicle again for winter and am quite pleased with the product.
I am going to do truck with the new Duragloss coating to see how they compare. Both coatings are inexpensive and will be interesting to see the results in a years time.
