    Production Detailing for Daily Drivers

    Production Detailing for Daily Drivers

Next up is my buddy Dave's son Josh's truck, a 2004 Dodge Ram 4x4. I'm not sure Josh has washed this truck in a few years and he works at a boat yard as a welder so the truck is parked in an area of heavy industrial pollution.

First we washed wheels and tires as that's the order I follow for my own vehicles and the order I teach in my classes. Next we sprayed the entire truck down with Iron X and you can see the results. This is called chemical decontamination.

Then we washed the truck using the Foam Gun... everyone loves to use the foam gun....

Next we machine polished it using Pinnacle XMT 360 which is a light cutting cleaner/wax.

First a quick lesson on how to use a cleaner/wax by machine when working on neglected paint.

And that's how you do it!

Awesome! So iron x is safe to use on paint or did I read that wrong? This is the same chemical used the clean break dust off the wheels that changes color?

yes...I used IronX on my wifes DD Crosstrek. Cleaned the paint nicely and made the claying process much easier. Only drawback is the smell. :yuck:

Hmmm... I guess it depends where the auto is being exposed to? N not too cost effective to use something so expensive so freely?? I don't know I currently use something similar for wheels but geese it's expensive...

    Great job on that truck.

Mike, the pad look like they are pink, or are they orange? I think you recommend LC hybrids with a 5.5 plate? correct?

    Thanks,
    Larry

Great job!! Don't want to seem crass here but a medium grade nanoskin towel is a great replacement for iron x when the price doesn't allow for full decon.

Mike, it looks like you foamed without rinsing the IronX. Is this a practice we can all use and save one big rinsing step? Any caveats? Thanks.
