    Swirl finder light

At my local hardware store I purchased a led flash light. Does any led flashlight find swirls?

Most likely you can find some swirls with your new light try it once you have stripped the car of it's waxes(lsp) in a shaded area

What are the specs? I have an LED flashlight that I use for inspecting (as I find LED to be the best source of revealing marring)... I use the Coast HP7. It is zoomable, so you can adjust for a focused beam of light or a wider flood light, 251 lumens, and a good battery life. It is a good light for inspection, but I still rely on my higher powered LED and Halogen work lights for the majority of my work.

My LED flashlight shows a TON more than my halogen work lights...

Well I have huge good quality flashlights but unfortunately I don't know about using them for spotting swirl or detailing work.I prefer to use regular tripod-mounted halogens for detailing purpose.

    I've been wondering this too.

Is any LED as good as the "swirl finders" you can buy @AG? Is there something special about these so call swirl finders or are the just simply LED lights?

I recieved a similar flashlight a year or two ago as a gift; not to use while detailing, but simply as a flashlight.

I used it as a swirl spotter this past weekend for the first time and it worked great. I don't see it being a substitute for good lighting while doing work, but I found it to be excellent in spotting swirls. Since the lighting in my garage is really poor, I also used it as a means to check my work as I was going along.

One day i'll get the Flex swirl finder light, but for now i use 3 different LED lights. one of them has 6 LED's going horizonatally and the other two are just one LED but it picks up stuff well, even in the sun.

    Re: Swirl finder light

I think you have to find one with very high lumens. I almost bought one the other day it had 800 lumens I believe. It's my understanding that the higher the lumens the more it will show. I could be totally wrong, want to find out what the experts say.
