    Coatings on Carbon Fiber Pieces

Hey, I am going to be applying a coating to my car this Spring. Not sure which one exactly yet, still researching a bit, but I am trying to determine if they can be applied over dry carbon fiber pieces. I have a few on my car, some on the bumper, the diffuser and spoiler. I don't want to cause damage somehow, not really sure if you could.

    Anyone have experience with that?

You could always check with the dealership, but I'll wager if it's on the exterior, it's got some form of clear coat on it.

Based on your avatar is this on a GT-R? Presumably the rear wing and rear diffuser?

If so, I had the same question last year when I did a correction and CQuartz finest installation on a GT-R black edition with the carbon wing and diffuser. I was told by Corey at CarPro that others have had no issues applying CQF to matter finishes and that it simply adds a minor sheen to the surface.

Todd Cooperider, however, suggested that 22ple should not be used on matte finishes.

My best advise would be to test the coating you will be using in an inconspicuous area and then monitor the results after it has cured.

Cheers, and yeah it is a BE GT-R. I might pick a spot on the rear diffuser under neath and go from there.

Opti-coat will slightly darken (very minimal) matte finishes however will add no sheen and still leave a matte finish.

If it's clear coated then there shouldn't be any issues with any coating.

Opti Coat will maintain the finish but somehow makes it look cleaner or more uniform. Most prefer the look.
