I am curious as t what speed works for those that use the rupes.
I have not had any problems but I was curious?
    Thanks

    5-6.

But just did the washer mod today. I won't be using it for a bit, so not sure if it will make a diff.

I'm not sure I understand your question...

What specific task are you asking about?

    Cutting? Polishing? Spreading Wax?

In any case, it is all dependent on the particular vehicle you are working on. In general, higher speeds are used with more aggressive pads/products for cutting and slower speeds are used with less aggressive pads/products while polishing. Test spots will reveal the best combo of speed/pad/product for each scenario.

With the Bigfoot 15 and 21 I use a slower speed to spread my product out over the area I'm going to work and then bump up to the 6 - full speed ahead.

With the Duetto and Mini 12's pretty much the same thing...

Does the washer mod make much of a difference? It was the only "detailing" I could do today in the snow. I found out there is 2 types of 5/16" washers that are 2 different sizes: USS & SAE.

    Who knew?

I pretty much use it at speed 6 for compounding, and anywhere from 4-5 for polishing. I love me my Rupes!

Yes it does help. Just grind down the sides on the 5/16" washer to fit. It doesn't have to be perfect..it's the thickness that matters.
