    Some Question - BMW Paint

    Hallo,

in a few days I gonna start polishing and coating a BMW 330i Coupe E92.
The Car has black paint with metallic. It is totally damaged by winter and wrong washing technique. so far so "good"...

I ve made a BMW Coupe of the Generation before the E92. The paint was hard. I suppose that this paint is also hard - maybe harder?

At the last BMW the key to a perfect finish was a whit hex-logic (CG), Menzerna 3000 and a DA Polisher. Could this also work on this paint?

How to handle the first polishing step? Try to use FG500/FG400 with rotary and woolpad??

    Thanks for your answers

    Hello and Welcome.

I would not use a wool pad and rotary at first.

Since you havent touched this car before the paint may be soft. Try your white pad and Menzerna 3000 to see where that gets you.

If that dosent work then try FG400/FG500 on a orange cutting pad and D/A to see where that gets you. You shouldnt need anything more aggressive than this step.

What Smack said...need to do a test spot starting with a the least aggressive combo - then work your way up the scale. Best & safest way.

Since having my rupes I have not picked up a rotary, I did this BMW with m100 on a micro pad, followed by rupes fine gell on yellow rupes pad.coated with c quartz finest. I would not do anything untill you do a test spot. I have seen different reactions on different models.good luck.

Just do a test spot with the lease aggressive compound first and go from there easy as that. If you all ways do a test spot you should never have a problem with any kind of paint. This will save you lots of time and make polishing a lot easier.
