How to remove water spots from glass

I have a buddy that has a 72 Mustang fastback. The rear glass has really bad water spots on it. He said he has tried claying it, polishing it with a wool pad on a rotary and several glass restoration products with no luck. He asked if I could help him with it.

My first thought was to try 105 and an orange pad. Does anyone have any suggestions that I might try to remove them? Any help would be appreciated.

I have a reply about this type of problem on MOL that dates back to 2005 and somewhere in the thread I explain that product like M105 can work but what you want is a chunky abrasive that won't scratch glass.

    Glass Polishing - Deep Cleaning

I buffed out a lot of cars in Oregon and Washington and even a few in Idaho when I was younger and they all had something in common and that is water spots on the paint and on the glass.

You can't buff out the paint to a mirror shine and return your customer's car back to them with water spots on the glass so I buffed out a lot of glass.

Back then I used M04 Heavy Cut Cleaner because it has a large, chunky diminishing abrasive.

Whoops! Link was broken but now it's fixed.

I copied and pasted it from MOL and there's a good chance it's been broken on MOL since I created it.

Thanks Mike. I'll pick up some M04 and give it a try.

You mentioned in the link, to try to find some "Mirror Glaze Heavy Duty Oxidation Remover" from a marine store. I can't find that on-line.
All I can seem to find is "Meg’s Mirror Glaze #49 Heavy Duty Oxidation Remover" ?
    Is that the same stuff?
    Thank you.

If you have 105 on hand it will take out typical surface water spots.

If you don't already have something that works or it's etched in badly use this Review: CarPro CeriGlass

When I was at a Meguiar's factory demo a week ago I think he said vinegar dissolves water spots on glass. Try it can't hurt.
Learning to detail for fun and to show my 96 Ford SVT Cobra, Black. My dad always said I was going to wax the paint right off my car. Would wax every weekend. GG 6" DAP

He tried that as well. It didn't help at all. I've never had problems with removing water spots until this car.
