Holy Molly!! Ultimate Compounds; Super Glaze, Swirl Remover; etc, etc.

I've read more articles on Swirl Removers, Ultimate Compounds, Show Car Glaze, Scratch Remover, Total Swirl Remover, Polish, feeding the paint, etc, etc.

What is the best all around swirl/scratch/paint cleaner for a car in achieving the deepest shine possible? Is there a big difference in water based products vs oil? If so, what are they?

Finally; I've probably used every wax under the sun (no pun intended), quite frankly they all seem pretty much the same. Any suggestions?

I have a 2010 Lexus Metalic red. Paint is in very nice condition, car has never seen a commercial car wash. Always hand washed very carefully.

Wife has a 2010 Lexus Silver, everything else, same as above.

How about some thoughts from the experts.

    Thanks,

    Jim

Economical and great performance: Ultimate Compound, Ultimate Polish, Ultimate Wax

Wolfgang and Pinnacle get great reviews but they are very expensive.

Menzerna is a staple of many detailers as well. But, it is more expensive than Meguiars.

    Hi Jim, welcome to AutoGeek!

There is no exact answer to a couple of your questions as different polishes, pads, and machines combine to be better or worse on different paints.

If your looking for one product that can both remove 1500 grit scratches and finish excellent then I would suggest either CarPro Fixer or Wolfgang Total Swirl Remover. Be advised these products must be used corrrectly to achieve the best finish. They are in a group called diminishing abrasives.

M105&M205 are great but you certainly need both.

For the very best finishing polish there are products like Menzerna PO85RD and 3M Ultrafina (Ultrafine)

The biggest difference between oil and water based you will notice is the ease of removing the spent polish and the fact some oily polishes are synonymous with lots of fillers which hide your true work. For that I use Eraser to remove the oils and make sure there are no holograms or swilrs in the paint.

Yep, they all look pretty much the same if your paint is perfectly polished.

If you want hard candy coated shine I suggest UPGP.

If you want a deep beauty I suggest 4 Star UPP or Blackfire Wet Diamond.

    Ultima Paint Guard Plus

You will most likely never find one compound/polish that does it all.

Some good ones to have would be 105/205, ultimate compound, power finish, 85rd, and SIP.
