    Severe swirl/scratch removal

Just purchased a gently used 09 Honda CRV.

Realized after purchase that the previous owner used a scratch pad on the hood of the car. I don't think that the scratches went through to the paint (performed the highly technical fingernail test) but they are extremely noticeable now that the minimal swirls are diminished from the vehicle.

I recently detailed hood using da & xmt swirl remover #3. Rest of car was completed with xmt #1 swirl remover, xmt carnuba polish, and Pinnacle Liquid Souveran Wax.

Recommendations about how to handle hood would be appreciated.

Continue what you are doing with a more aggressive polish, pad, or both.
Experiment to see which combination works best.

Not sure if what you are seeing, is exactly what I had to repair once before. But, I wrote a thread up on a vehicle I did where the customer had washed their vehicle with the rough side of a sponge.

Sounds like the damage would be similar to what you are trying to solve.

I had to wet sand with 2000 grit, then compound and polish. Here's the thread. Hope this helps!

You washed your vehicle with what???

    Thanks for the link.

The damage on vehicle was not that severe, but similar. Sorry don't have any pics.

Once I did the original swirl remover. The grooves are still there, but less pronounced.

    Good advise
