question about topping products
I have a question which I dont know the answer !
Today I ordered a bottle of mothers reflection wax locally (25$ well invested i think) reviews about longevity made me buy it.
ill be cleaning the paint with a prewax cleaner of some type, mothers or swissvax
then here lies the problem, if i have the FX synwax and reflection wax & I want to layer both products, in which order should i use them ?
also, for longevity sake (keep in mind quebec winter here so pretty much like BC + 99% more salt) would i be better to
a) leave it the way mentionned in the upper sentence .
b) layer a coat of meguiars 16 wax over that (may not last long)
c) spray optimum wax on top of that combination
I am hoping to get some good answers as I have 2 compact cars, a pickup truck, 2 SUV and 2 midsize sedan to do this step on (the joy of having many cars in the family )

Re: question about topping products
I have used both Reflections and FX; still have them and they are keepers. For longevity you probably would go with FX over Reflections. For shine, put them in reverse. Either way, you probably won't see a drastic difference if the surface is prepped properly.
Personally, if I was faced with your dilemma I would put 2-3 coats of the same product on the car rather than top one over the other. I dedicate FX to my wife's daily driver (GMC Acadia) until the bottle is empty. I am well into month #4 with 1 coat of Synwax FX and while the car still beads well, the beads are much larger than they used to be.

Re: question about topping products
Looking at the product descriptions on AG, both products appear to have cleaners:
Mothers FX Synwax:
Synwax goes beyond shine enhancement to improve the texture of the paint. The formula contains polishes that remove minor surface defects as it creates a hard layer of synthetic protection.
Mothers Reflections Advanced Car Wax:
Using the latest liquid polymer technology, Reflections Car Wax bonds to your paint to shield it from the elements and retain the dramatic shine. Mild cleaners remove light contamination from the paint so your paint is perfectly clean and clear. Synthetic fans will love the crisp shine of Reflections Car Wax and anyone can appreciate the ease of application and durability.
In which case, I would think that layering either product, either over itself or over the other, would compromise any previous layer.

Here's an article on the topic of topping... might find something that helps in it...
