    Re: Tree sap??

I've removed some pretty big old hard globs by building a dam around the sap with a microfiber; flooding with Stoner's Tarminator; let dwell; wipe. This has always worked for me two apps. max.
Like someone mentioned above this is if it hasn't etched the paint.

Try using an ice cube in a plastic sandwich bag.Rub it over the spot gently and it will come off....may take a little while but it works for me.

Inherited some very OLD deposits when I bought the car. Nothing listed worked. Eventually had to take the razor to it, and the small amount left i hit with some very light wet sanding. Buffed, looked perfect.

Tree Sap is an organic compound. Hence the chemistry, any other organic solvent will work. SLX -(only on clear coat paints) Goof off, Orange citrus. I have found that Next Generation dish detergent (vegetable based) will work too.

I'm surprised TarX and clay didn't work. It must be really old hardened sap. Some cool ideas I'm reading here I'll have to try next time I run into aged sap deposits.

    Re: Tree sap??

I had to leave my truck out under some Oak and Hickory trees for a few weeks while the carport was being built....I was on chemo and then had my left knee replaced. This week I have been trying to get the tree sap off..It is very hard..I tried some Tarminator (fair) the some Tar X (fair) they I used some 3M Adhesive Remover IT Works great....the roof of the truck is ready for some Glaze now...
