Recommend a product for Cleaning Headliner

My headliner is in need of a cleaning. It is light tan/beige and one year old. I never touch it but there are marks on it I do not know how they got there and driving with the windows open on dust roads it has accumulated some dirt.

What product do any of you recommend for this?
Also what method or technique would work best?
Should I use a microfiber pad?

I do not want the headliner to come out looking all matted.

I use Folex and just blotch it. You can get it at Lowes or Home Depot. it's great on carpet too.

I've been using DP Pre-Extractor Treatment to clean headliners with. It works very well and haven't encountered any problems with it. However I've been wondering if that cleaner presents any danger to the adhesive?

The Folex doesn't leave behind anything, so it works best. APC's and other interior cleaning liquids usually need to be rinsed out of fabric, and that is less than desirable for a headliner.

Before you use any cleaner though you may want to use a vacuum to get all the loose dust or you are going to make a mess. I posted some tips on that in a show and shine, the thread is titled "Some Interior Work Pics". (I would give a link but I am on my phone.)

+3 on Folex.....spray on towel and gently rub clean, done. I also use my steamer to clean headliners but you have to be quick and carefull.

    spray folex on terry towel
    wipe in one direction
make faces at all the dirt on the towel
I told my wife that a husband is like a fine wine; he gets better with age. The next day, she locked me in the cellar.

    Thanks for the info,

I would like to try this Folex. I have never heard of it before. I will google it and try and find it.

    So Homedepot will have this?

I take it this the product you guys are talking about?
Folex Instant Carpet Spot Remover removes spots and stains

Also thanks for the tip on vacuuming the headliner first.
I wouldn't have thought of that. But I believe it will make a big difference in my situation because A LOT of dust/dirt is on there as I drive dusty roads with the windows open way too much.

I'd be scared to death on steaming a headliner, I usually get a sponge slightly damp with APC+ or the Folex sounds even better as someone has mentioned. I wipe the headliner lightly with the sponge, making sure not to wet it too much. I learned the hardway with getting it too wet!
