    PC7424XP Plastic Washer

I just got the new PC7424XP polisher and there was a small plastic washer in the bag with the wrench. I don't see it mentioned in the instructions anywhere, but I figure that it is meat to go between the backing plate and the free floating spindle assembly? Is this plastic washer necessary? The nut on the free floating spindle assembly looks to be the same as the one on my G100 polisher and I do not have a plastic washer for that polisher.

I'm guessing that I do not need it, but I'm curious.

If this is the one you're talking about, then yes you are correct it goes between the backing plate and the spindle...and yes you should definietly use it...

I think that's why they put it in there in the first place.

    Yep, that's the one.

I guess I'm mostly just wondering why Porter Cable now includes this washer with the new PC724XP, but they did not include it with their older PC7424 (G100) polishers.

I will tell you that it did/does come with all the pc's new or old, re-boxed or not. It does seem like it is constantly overlooked when people get their pc though, I guess that comes with the excitiment of a new tool to play with.

I think the material is more of a fiber, than it is a plastic.

If you should lose your washer all pc backing plates come with a washer so use it.
