    Honestly wondering???????

After roughly 40 years of cleaning cars, starting as a total NEWB, to where I am now, I have noticed ONE CONSISTANT thing....

Out of EVERY SINGLE CAR, that I have detailed, the ones that ALWAYS have the absolutely NASTIEST windows (interior), have ALL been owned by younger (typically) NON-SMOKING Women/Girls.

I DON'T mean ANY disrespect to those women who DO take care of their cars. Women who are into cars/detailing are a rare gift from God. I'm referring to the female population in general. Their houses are usually immaculate (windows included), but the windows in their CARS!!!!

It hit me as I was detailing the car of the 2nd of my two nieces (the KIA), that BOTH the blue Civic AND the Soul had (some) interior glass that APPEARED that cleaning had been ATTEMPTED (with what looks like a dry, dirty - grimy rag), but BOTH were WORSE than the interior glass on a HEAVY smoker's car.

My wife asked why I didn't take 50/50 pictures of the windows, and to be honest, I think I was too shocked once the realization hit me, and I missed the opportunity.

Is it simply because cars aren't a priority to them? Doesn't NOT BEING ABLE TO SEE due to the severe glare off the haze bother them? I asked my first niece (Civic) about her driving experience AFTER I had cleaned the windows in her car. She said: "It was like driving in high-definition." But she didn't have an answer as to WHY she let them get that bad. So I asked my 2nd niece (KIA) "Why did your windows get so bad?" She just laughed, but said "I have no idea."

Can ANYONE clue me in as to "WHY?"

    Re: Honestly wondering???????

I don't have experience detailing other people's cars so much, but where I worked in Sydney I spent over 20 years driving with the sun in my face both ways, east in the morning and west in the afternoon. I followed a lot of cars with extremely hazy and dirty windscreens, it was so obvious that they never cleaned the inside of their windshields, other than the occasional single hand wipe directly in front of the driver, which is very obvious from a distance.

The one group I would say are really bad for it over here are what we would call "tradies utes", for you that would be the pick ups driven by plumbers, carpenters, lawn mowing guys (sorry Deyon), etc. They also usually have their dashboards loaded up with all manner of junk, think invoice books, lunch wrappers, mens magazines, and empty cans. Other than those guys, I couldn't target a particular demographic for this type of poor behaviour.

What I have personally SEEN isn't JUST the front glass, it's ALL of it! The rear windows on BOTH my nieces' car were ALMOST completely OPAQUE, like frosted glass, opaque

Hmm, now that you mention it, noticed a similar pattern.

Maybe they're using hairspray, deodorants, or something similar, I can see that leaving surfaces opaque.

I only noticed the front glass because I was following these cars driving towards a rising or setting sun, when they were driving next to me I couldn't tell what the other glass was like.

I don't doubt what you're seeing over there, but there is a group of young women in my region who are actually interested in cars, and like to modify them, individualize them, and they seem to be having an influence on others, the downside is they're driving like young men, aggressive and dangerous.

Smokers cars have always been bad for me, Ive done plenty of "young womens" cars and not seen bad glass but EVERY smokers car had bad glass.

The windows in my Camaro would get "bad" pretty quick, because for 7 years I smoked (heavily) in the car, but I ALSO CLEANED them regularly. It was a bit more difficult that glass that is simply neglected forever (with the tar and other chemicals in smoke).

I guess it's the total lack of caring that you can't see through your windows that boggles me.

I can not answer your question but 100% agree regarding the windows of young girls cars.

Just had one like this last week, the windows were atrociously dirty.
