Do you dust your daily driver?

I'm wondering who all here dusts (California duster, etc.) their daily driver? I find it helps to extend the time between maintenance washes.

Depending on the color and make of car, I feel a waterless wash is safer.

Black Truck... Not really a daily driver because I don't drive everyday, but it gets the California Duster quite regularly.

The duster is also my first step when doing a waterless wash. Contrary to Rsurfer's thought, I feel it is safer to use the duster first (to remove the loose contaminants) and then follow up with the waterless. I've been doing it that way for a long time without issue.

I haven't used a CCD in years dating back to when I had two black cars at the same time. I didn't see the risk of marr ing and ruining all my hard work by using one. I continue with the same practice to this day.

The way I would judge whether I'd use mine or not was how long ago did it get a wash/wax and how humid it is outside. If it was fairly recent, I'd use my CD if the dust was light. If it's been more than a couple weeks, humid outside, or the dust is pretty heavy, I'd do a waterless wash. I had bought a CD a couple years ago off Amazon it it was not nearly a good as the one I've had for over 25 years. Not sure if they changed something, but I moved that newer one to just my wheels. I wondered if maybe they wern't as good as they used to be.

To the OP... With regards to the California Car Duster, do whatever you feel comfortable with and your experience teaches you.

You're going to get comments both ways... I for one, am a proponent of using the duster, others think the duster belongs in the trash can. There aren't too many opinions that fall in the middle with this topic... You either love it or hate it.

I own one black truck and two black motorcycles and each of them see the California Duster as a regular part of my maintenance process. As far as any marring caused by using the duster goes... I just don't see it.

I didn't see any marring because I successfully avoided it by stopping using the duster

If someone insists on using it, barely touch the paint with it as you whisk and shake it after each pass. Never mash it into the paint.

I just barely run the duster over the exterior surfaces to gently lift any loose dust off the car. It's extremely gentle. I never use any pressure or even the weight of the duster against the paint. I also shake it out before and after using it each time.

Re: Do you dust your daily driver?

I won't use either a duster or a waterless wash. I attempted a few waterless washes and ended up with a boat load of dirty towels and a bit of marring for my efforts. Dusters just never seemed like a good idea to me.

If the dust is visible on my paint, I'll wash it and go the safe route. Even when I had a black car, I would just deal with little dust and pollen being visible rather than risk marring. For me, my dailies being exposed to the elements and not being perfect is just part of life.
