CarPro Essence Primer - Cure time and IPA wipe down
I've searched the forums but I can not get a straight answer (I know shocking) on what it seems to be a simple binary question
Q - Using essence, by machine, as a ceramic coating primer, do you need a 24 hour cure time before applying the ceramic coating?
I've read YES, to allow the oils to evaporate and give the SiO2 time to cure
I've read NO, b/c once the SiO2 cures and hardens it will reject the ceramic coating
So I'd greatly appreciate input from anyone and everyone who has had experience using it as primer, did you wait the 24-hours yes or no? did you use an IPA wipedown?

CarPro still recommends a panel wipe with Eraser.

I like to polish with Essence and then give it overnight to cure, then in the morning wipe with Eraser and coat. I don’t know if that’s the right way but it is a way that has worked well for me.

I've always allowed 1-2 hours to cure but that includes the fact that by the time I'm done with a full vehicle, an hour has gone by. I take a short break then do my wipedown and apply the coating. Zero issues. There are occasions where I'll wait until next day. Coating bonds just fine.

I have always wondered about that recommendation by CarPro. Wouldn't Eraser remove or at least significantly deteriorate all the "good stuff" in Essence you just applied? Am I over thinking this?

If you do it right after polishing that is a possibility. That's why many like to wait a few hours and I opt to wait overnight. That gives the SiO2 in it time to cure and then Eraser just removes any leftover oils which may not be a lot if you polished with a machine.

Not an issue. Eraser is not that strong

Not that I typically watch torture test videos, but one that comes to mind featured a selection of prep sprays attempting to remove previously applied paint sealants. The prep sprays didn't really touch the cured sealants, even after repeated hits.
Which leads me to believe these products are only valuable in removing polishing oils and other mild contaminants prior to coating, rather than expecting them to strip waxes and sealants in one simply spray and wipe action.
