    Removing stains from asphalt driveway

My tire/wheel cleaning products leave that dreaded "eyebrow" on my asphalt driveway. Any recommendations on removing without causing damage to the driveway?

Is it the cleaning products or the tire dressing? I've seen the 'eyebrows' on asphalt after using an aerosol dressing......I solved that problem by pulling the vehicle onto pieces of cardboard, if that helps you at all

Re: Removing stains from asphalt driveway

From my experience the "eyebrow", if I'm imagining it right, is actually the grime and brake dust that collects around the edges of the tires while you're washing. The water will eventually runs off, but the solids are left behind.

Are the "eyebrows" a stubborn and hard to remove? My driveway is graded such that water runs off pretty easily. Instead of "eyebrows" I just get lines or streaks that follow the run-off path, but I can rinse them off pretty easily right after I wash my car.

Something else to think about is the possibility of sealing the driveway with a clear concrete sealer. It would keep the grime from getting as embedded in the texture of the concrete and make it easier to clean off.

I've actually heard laundry detergent works really well for safe cleaning of oil and such from pavement, could give that a shot? Since you say asphalt driveway I'd start gentle and work up for fear of compromising the surface.

Did you try a drill brush?

it's the cleaning product. The tire dressing is not a spray on product.

Thanks Briarpatch, it's the cleaning product/residue. The dressing I use is applied with a foam applicator.
