Re: Maintaining black between cruise nights
Ive got a PPG Jet Black Base / Clear 1973 Trans Am. I have the exact same issues. (See my recent post about my experience with a light spray ceramic coating to try to reduce micro marring on this fragile paint.)
What I found works best to remove even heavy dust with no marring is to use a rinseless wash - but to pre-spray each panel HEAVILY with a spray wash product to lift / float the dust before gently passing the soaking wet MF pad with rinseless wash on ot. Then dry with super soft, fluffy detailing MF towels. Hope this helps.

Car doesnt see rain typically. Usually its going to a local cruise night and parked back in the garage. I have well water at home, and it is horrendous to wash the car with. SO, my question is, how do you guys "maintain" the paint in a situation like this? Say after going for a
cruise, what do you do about the light dust that accumulates on the paint?
I'd recommend using a high-quality detail spray and a microfiber cloth for light dust removal. It should help maintain your car finish without risking scratches...
