New Car Towel Recommendations

Definitely the Griots PFM for drying. It can be costly but it is a superb towel. I can dry the entire truck with one towel and never have to wring it out. Get the extra large edgeless type.

I have fallen for the concept of having different towels for different purposes, but I wonder if my entire arsenal could be simplified by just using a bunch of edgeless 365s for everything and PFMs for drying.

Anyway, here's what I use:


Drying: PFM. I have the large edgless and 2 16x16s. I can almost dry a whole car with one 16x16. The big one dries the horizontal surfaces. Little ones for vertical surfaces as they're much easier to handle and easier to avoid accidentally dragging it across the concrete.

General paint: Product removal - Edgless 365. For final buffing once the paint is slick Eagle 350s or 600s. I find that unless the paint is already slick, the ultra plush towels just collapse and roll over themselves when folded into quarters.

Polish removal: Edgeless 365. Cheap, effective, and no marring.

Panel Prep: Edgeless 365 again.

Wash Media: I have noodle mitts but recently switched to the multi-towel method since I save time not dunking into the second rinse bucket. For this I have creatures for my daily and eagle 450s for my nicer car. The eagle 450s appear fluffier than the 350s and are somehow cheaper (anyone know why?). For the creatures I can see why some call them 'rough'. I'd call them grabby. Wet and covered in soap they are slippery and have not induced marring as far as I can tell.

General purpose - interior, door jambs - I demoted an older pack of spectrum 420s for this.

+1 for the Gauntlet. I have used this towel for 1 1/2 years of weekly rinseless washes and it still feels as soft and still works as well as the day I bought it. I absolutely love it.

The Griots PFM for drying is amazing. Makes quick work of it too. Definitely a purchase you will not regret.

Also, any recommendations for a glass towel? The crinkle from Griot's isn't sold on this site.

I'd think you could substitute an eagle 500 for any of the other eagles - 350, 450, 600. I chose the 450's b/c they were the same price but come in a 6 pack vs. a 4 pack. No clue if the extra 50 gsm is worth the 50% increase in price you pay for the 500s.

For glass I used to use a megs waffle, now I just use my PFM.

I think the Eagle 500's would be great for rinse-less washing.

For glass, I use 16x24 TRC Dry Me A River waffle weave.

I own mostly EE 500/350. Great for rinseless and final buff. Although the TRac Everest is my favorite final buff towel.

I feel there to fluffy for polish removal. I like a tighter weave.

I could never get along with the 500’s for anything but Carnauba removal…too clingy.
