What do these marks mean ?

I just purchased a used work truck and noticed that there are spiderwebs on certain spots of the hood, mixed with some bubbling on the front grill. I went ahead and threw on some spray wax all over since it probably has no protection, but is this something I will be able work out? I cant tell if this is caused by chipping, bad clear coat, etc.
    Any help would be appreciated.

pics 1-4 are the hood , 5 is the grill

Pics 1-4 look like etching to me.....and the beginnings of clear coat failure. Can't tell what pic 5 is......but I'm guessing you will need a respray for all of the spots

And I usually make the joke I can buff that out but those won’t buff out. If you try to reduce the look, you’ll go through the clear. I have the same thing on the used Acura TL I bought but the miles were so low, I wasn’t going to pass up the deal.

Thanks for the replies. I saw this vehicle in person but did not catch these marks and my OCD makes me look straight at the mark every time.

What would a good first try recommendation be to try and minimize these marks? If there is anything at all that I can do.
Would a clay bar or compound make the damage worse? I would like to give it an effort at least, but would like to start with a semi-safe option. I don't want to go all out and then make it worse. I can always get more abrasive, or use a different method, if the safe way didn't work.

I also read something about using a 50/50 vinegar solution to try to buff it with. Is this applicable to this or no ?

Unfortunately there really isn’t anything you can do short of repainting or touching up those areas with paint and clear coat, which touching them up won’t hide them either. I tried minimizing mine and it didn’t do anything until I did a more aggressive polish on the trunk lid and started to go through the clear coat, which is way more noticeable since now I have two slightly larger circles where the paint is lighter. Considering a full paint job is $4000 +/-, I figure I’ll just wait until I get a new car to be completely OCD on the paint, which will also entail getting full PPF to help protect from these sorts of issues as ceramic coatings can’t fully.

Unfortunately, these marks mean you are pretty much SOL.

That paint appears to be on its last legs... Beyond the point of no return. You can experiment to see if any improvement can be achieved but your expectations should be set pretty low.

    That is fantastic news

So lets take this in a different direction, how do I prevent this from getting worse? Just keep it waxed and out of the sun as best as I can ? Or anything else I can/should do ?
Lastly, are there any specific brands/products that I should look at using to help the best I can.

    Ok thanks.
Will using a light compound be too abrasive on this area? If I were to work the entire truck for swirls, should I avoid these areas or can I still run over them ?
