I do the same. Grab an empty bucket and rest the rotary on the lip. Most sling stays inside the bucket.
Word of caution I think the high rpms' stretch the pad = reduced lifespan.

Re: cleaning pads after using Sonax EX 04-06
Add a di-limonene product to your cleaner ( I've added it to 3D degreaser @1:10 with distilled water(DW), pad cleaner packets @ a packet /gal with DW, APC's @ 1:10 DW - basically whatever I had a lot of or wanted to get rid of.). Make it equal to about 5-6 percent of solution. It will get your pads clean quick - even with AIO's.
Put your pad in a container, pour a few ounces in and start working it. You use the container so you can dip the pad back in the cleaner that comes out as you work the pad (otherwise you would go through a lot of cleaner). Rinse the pad/container out and repeat. It usually only takes twice with and AIO. Though, you may want to put an ounce on the pad after the second rinse to work in and make sure you got everything out. If you wash your pads in a washing machine, you probably just need to do enough to get the gunk out.
CitraBlast, CitraSolv, Citrol, they all work. CitraBlast is probably cheaper even though it's cut 50/50 with water. You just have to double the amount you add and shake it up. I've had good results using it though.

One thing i do before using a fresh clean pad is take a pad brush to it and get any dried bits out of it.

No patience to spritz a used pad with cleaner and toss into a bucket overnight? Then taking 2-5min to rinse it out the next day or so and let it sit to dry?!?! How long does it take you to polish a whole vehicle??!
