Can you add a second coat of coating a while after the first?

    Mike,

I put the Gyeon marine ceramic coating on my boat hull last summer. It's holding up well, but starting to show some wear below/at the water line. I coated the inside of my boat recently and have some coating left over. I'd like to add another coat to the hull as insurance, but I'd rather not polish off the existing coating and start over. What's the best way to do that? I've used wash and waxes and other products since application. Do a prep wash, coating prep and then application?

Also, I have black powder coated metal. Can it be polished? If so, what pads/polish would be best to use with the Supabeast?

    Thank You.

If you don't want to re-polish - then prep wash, coating prep and then application is all you can do. I say go for it.

Then FOLLOW-UP here some time down the road and let everyone know how it worked out. This will help others.

Thanks, Mike. I'll give it a try and report back. I figure I don't have much to lose except a little time.

The powder coating I'm talking about is on my T top. It's very slick and shiny, like a painted surface. Being black it shows little scuffs and minor scratches. I didn't know if you've tried polishing that or not.

Powder coat paints tend to be high in solids and this makes them very hard.

Try to polish with foam pad on orbital and see what happens. Might work good.
