Clear coat fracturing on the roof of a Toyota Tundra

Good afternoon Mike and Forum,

I have a 2014 Tundra. It seems to have clear coat fracturing on the roof. I have attached photos.

I believe this to be a type II Fracture/etching caused by Bird poop sitting on the finish. From reading previous posts about this issue, I understand that type II is not correctable.

Since this is on the roof, I'm really not concerned about the aesthetics, I'm primarily concerned about rust and further damage.

I know there are a few different options:

-Getting the roof repainted (not a very viable option for me currently, but I am considering it in the future)

-I've seen sanding and applying clear coat recommended on other forums (I understand this route may not look as good, but I'm more focussed on preventing damage than appearance)

-Polish and apply sealant

I'm leaning towards the third option (polish and apply sealant) but want to get your thoughts.
