Question on compounds acting as a filler and question on YouTube video.
Hi Mike
Hope you are well!
Just been watched a YouTube video. Can't paste the link as I know it may stop this post going through but the name of it is "3m scratch removal kit- before and after"
This guy keys in some scratches into his car and I can't see how using the 3M compound... or any compound would remove them as it looks like its gone straight into the base coat. He has keyed it so deep its showing the white from the base coat (Or so it looks). Have a look yourself and tell me what you think. Its almost like the video is fake.
Also someone in the comment said this "it is look very good but after few days when you wash car that scratches will shown again , the wax fill clear coat paint of car and that why you do not see. I try that but scratches after wash came again ..."
Is that what compound is actually doing? Just filling in the scratches and then after a wash they then reappear?
Cheers Mike!

Here's what I know...
3M makes great products. So maybe it works?
Me? I prefer to fix things the right way the first time and I'm also smart enough to know when some things cannot be fixed.
Take one for the team - get the product, use it and write a review.

Re: Question on compounds acting as a filler and question on YouTube video.
Hey!
Yes I do actually have the kit and it comes with a 2x2 trizact... just a little piece. I was sanding my Mums car yesterday she had a scratch on it from where the dog kept jumping up. Its a Hyundai Accent and the factory paint job is not the best. Ended up sanding too deep and went to the paint coat. The scratch was still visible even after sanding through the clear coat. Looks like I may need to do a touch up job. I should really have done the finger nail test.
If someone brought a car into you that had been keyed. Would you sand down the whole hood and respray it?

I wouldn't personally.
I'd recommend the person take it to a body shop and have them fix it and then respray it.
