    Need help with an odor

    I recently purchased a car that had been in storage for a few years and apparently stored with moth balls. The interior still has the smell even though I have left it air out. Any recommendations on how I can get rid of that smell? Thanks

    Mothballs or para-dichlorobenzene has a relatively low melting temperature so try heating the interior, try leaving the car in the sun with the windows cracked so it can heat up really high and then air it out. Although a little unpleasant it could be worse. Consider yourself lucky in that respect.

    Thanks, will give that a try. It's been in the 70's and rainy since we brought it home.

    @Route246 interesting, that's good info.

    If you haven't detailed the interior already, it may help to clean/steam the fabric with an apc. Also Ozium and activated charcoal help with absorbing smells. Oh and make sure there are no mothballs left under the seat etc

    thanks, ordering some activated charcoal and ozium as well, since it honestly can't hurt to have them around. I found no mothballs in the car anywhere, so assuming it is just residual smell now that won't leave. I tried febreeze, but as you can imagine, that did nothing, except make a bad combination of smells
