You don't want to charge for something you have not done. With a one step you "should" expect a 60 to 70 percent correction depending on many factors. A three step "should" get you closer to 95% or better. Plus hours more work. You can show this with test spots. The 3 step will get more correction and will take longer to do, hence; one step vs. 3 steps. in each step you are going over the car completely.
A bad reputation of charging for things not done will follow you like body odor. You don't want to be the smelly kid that everyone avoids.
It's always better to over deliver than over charge.

well you have to 1-wash 2-clay 3- all in one polish.. thats 3 steps to me

i guess what ive been doing is a 3 step details not really knowing they have good one step products as well it would take me hours on top of hours to get done with one detail but i am trying to fine a way to make the customers happy and still put money in my pocket am losing money doing that to an very day driver

ya bro it takes to long, takes me three days to do my car with a two step polish. I dont do cars for money but i bought the new menzerna all in one for when i do. people ask me constantly but i dont have the time.

idk kid i dont detail for money but you need to figure out how long its going to utake you from start to finish. that means START as in, as soon as you breakout that 5 gallon bucket to wash, until you do your last stroke of buffing to FINISH.

Find out how many hours that will take you and then decide how much you want to make per hour. Thats it kid, universal advice for pricing any job.

You never want to charge for a multi step process, and just hit it with a cleaner wax. That's unethical.

I start my cleaner wax services at $125.00 for small/medium cars. They know up front that it will not remove all of the defects. Usually takes three to four hours or so for that type of service.

The term steps are associated with correction
So weather you use a compound only, a Polish o ly or an AIO it's still just a one step.

When I use an AIO I cut down the passes and charge 200-250

With a dedicated 1 step I charge 400+
