    Outdoor Car Show How-to

Okay, I've washed my car well, used clay, polished and waxed, in addition to all of the trim, tires, wheels, etc. Now, I drive the car for 1.5 hours to get to an outdoor show.
What do you suggest I do to the car after I get it parked. In the past, I used a spray detailer and it seems to work well, but I don't feel like it gets the car into "Competition Ready" status. Suggestions?

    From the sister forum

    Heres what I normally carry

In FL, it rains having been caught in enough storms on way to shows, I normally bring spray and wipe and some micro, maybe some spray and gloss, and lots of micro.

So I finally decided to use my newly re-acquired ag detail bag.

    In it I packed:
    Spray and Gloss
    Spray and Wipe
    BF waterless wash
    Sonax Brilliant shine detailer
    Bold n Brite
    Natural look
    Bug Squash

    Applicators
    6 DMTs (pb micro)
    6 Costco micro - disposable
    2 terry towels - disposable
    3 applicators

A good quality spray detailer is really all that should be required to remove and road dust. It all depends on what you drive through on the way to the show. A 90 minute dry drive through relatively clean roads should not undo all the work you did on the car. The quick detailer should get it back to the just detailed look.

I'd take with me: waterless wash, quick detailer, glass cleaner, microfiber towels. Usually a qd will clean up your car nicely, but sometimes you get more schmutz on it than a qd can handle. Hence the ww.

Really it depends on how you want to attend the show, and how picky the judges are........

Best advice is go and enjoy the show....... If ya can't have fun, it ain't worth it.

I've had shows where I did nothing and won, and had shows where the judges would look for anything to bump you. I got bumped for dust/dirt behind a door bumper, and also go nailed for a water spot in engine compartment.... "It didn't leave the factory with that"

Where area you? What kind of show is it?

    To add:
•Be considerate of the other participants
around you; keep your stuff (including any
products' overspray) in your own space.
•Don't offend others with your vehicle's
loud exhaust and sound systems, if so equipped.
•No burnouts...coming, going, or while at the Show...

I take waterless wash and do a quick spritz and pat down when I get there. Make sure to take nice towels for paint and old ones for your wheels/wheel wells. Don't forget to touch up your exhaust tip!

We drove almost two hours to a show on Sat and I won my class. :-)

The days of using a quick detailer have gone the way of the carb! I will only use a waterless wash on my car when I get to a cars and coffee from now on. The advancements in these products has rendered QD's useless, I mean why not shine AND clean while your at it, something you really don't get with the QD. Your going to want to carry a half a dozen plush, edgeless mf towels to complete the job. BTW make sure you have some "less than" mf towels for exhaust and tires/wheels, not to mention engine bays as the WW makes quick work of these areas as well!
