Need advice for chrome on '58 Corvette
I have had this car for going on 30 years. It was fully restored in the late '90's to show quality. There is tons of chrome (triple plate) on this car and I have always maintained it only using Sprayaway glass cleaner. The car has been garaged in a heated garage with a dehumidifier, but I am starting to feel some light pitting on the chromed pieces.
I would like your advice before I make things worse with a polish or anything abrasive.
Thank you.

If there is some light pitting it's unfortunate but there is really nothing that can be done to correct that. All you can do is try to slow any progress.
My favorite product for maintaining nice chrome is Meguiar's Cleaner Wax. The consumer liquid version in the maroon bottle. It's a non-abrasive formula with chemical cleaners. Meguiar's #6 is another good choice very similar to the consumer version mentioned.

Another good product is Mother's Chrome Polish. Some say that aluminum foil will work, but I've not tried that method. I have tried #0000 steel wool and it scratched my chrome wheels.
Like 2black1s recommended a chemical cleaner would be your first and safest choice.

I like to use the Blackfire Metal Polish and top it with the Blackfire Metal Sealant. Excellent combo!

Would p21s paint cleanser be suitable for this? I have to give the Chevelle’s chrome bumpers a go.

I've never understood that recommendation unless the chrome is already rust covered.

Ditto!
I've heard this (0000 steel wool) recommended so many times and just don't get it. The only time I would ever use steel wool on chrome is when the chrome is already compromised.
I've ruined nice chrome more than once with steel wool, and even some chrome polishes, before learning my lesson. For that reason, the Meguiar's Cleaner Waxes I recommended above are my number one choice these days.

For this situation, I also like the idea using Meguiars Cleaner Wax. Meguiars Plastx also works great on chrome that’s in good condition and just needs to be polished.

Best reviews as always! And I went with the PURPLE by California Customs, over my trusty Mothers mag I have always used. And it spanked it!!!
