Rotary Video #2 (http://s44.photobucket.com/albums/f42/uZa/?action=view&current=2007_02_07_01H20Title1-1.flv)

This is showing the use of a Metabo rotary. Small like a PC but very powerful. One of the best tools out there for polishing and paint correction.

It's Metabo Rotary. The Rolls of Rotaries! Small like a PC but more powerfull than a Makita rotary. An awesome tool that the pros wield.

After you finish a polishing session you will tell a big difference from handling a regualr rotary and a Metabo. It has more of a PC feel to it...the newer model has a nice little hand-hold on the front now.

dont mean to hijac the thread but i looked at this guys gallery and the first video show shim steam cleaning the tire of that same porsche. what is it, how do ya use it and where can you find it?!
but back to rotaries, that thing looks nice...wish he'd show some sun shots on that car.my boss compounded a black truck with a rotary today which we hardly ever use...it looked great inside the shop, nice smooth reflection and all but i pulled it out, nothing but holograms everywhere...

Hello,

The machine you ask of is a vapor steamer. It basically boils water to steam and then releases that pressurized steam out via a variety of nozzles. The unit I have runs about $600.00 and puts out 190 degree steam at 65 psi. It will produce a nice little burn right through your jeans on your skin (ask me how I know).

I wish I had sun shots on that 1957 Porsche Speedster as well but when we finished the car it was beyond dark....I'll be posting up a video of a black Porsche and I will bring it out into the sun...if the sun ever shines again here in South Texas, and hopefully it will be swirl free :)

He must have been applying a wax or sealant... Or maybe you can compound moving that fast. I'm not sure..

You wouldn't you use a Rotary for applying wax/sealants/glazes would you?

whoa, didnt know you were actually a member! 600 bucks hmmm...a bit out of my budget! maybe in a few years. it looks like a handy machine. ive heard of people "steam cleaning" the engine and i never understood what they meant by that, now i get it! do you just work on porsches mainly? i checked out the gallery, some beautiful Pcars in there!

Is this the Metabo PE 12-175? if that is the name in the US, and that steamer looks like a great tool (nice background music on the steamer vid too. he he)

Nick,

I was polishing with Optimum Polish and also Optimum Compound, no waxing going on. Yes some people apply waxes with a rotary but I prefer to wax by hand or orbital, like my Cyclo.

Now I have at times used a rotary to buff wax off paint but even that is overkill really.

Take care,
Anthony

Yeah I was wondering what he was applying too. The pad looked so soft like a finishing pad.
