I don't get it, it doesn't have a trigger lock..

I hope they come out with a 15mm soon. I might buy it. Not if it doesn't have a trigger lock however.

I made up my mind i'm getting a cordless.

Probably. That location for a trigger lock would be consistent with their other machines.

*Sigh* I'm getting too old (nearly 40 ), but gotta say the name is kinda ridiculous - Ultimate Insane! . Maybe it's just over exposure from working next to a 22 year old that uses the word for about everything he sees (it was insaaaaaaane.)...

I was going back and forth on this issue. I did hear Mike P. Say the 8 is his preferred orbit. better Handling and shorter stroke creates more heat. He went as far as saying he wish Rupes did an 8mm forced and not there 5mm. I spent numerous hours researching this dilemma! Beast is 8mm and is the holy grail of machines. I did go with the Beast and Rupes LHR 15 over 21 for reasons stated. As for my 3" route I really like my 75E .
If I was going to go cordless I certainly would go with the PXE for 4 Bills over Griots (made in China) I flat out asked Clean Garage to also help me on the 8 vs.15 and they steered me to the LHR 15 over the 21 Anyway, there's really no right or wrong either way. They both have there niche.

Theoretically, an 8mm DA will finish out better than a longer stroke machine, assuming everything else, i.e., pads, polish, paint, remains the same. The same is true for DA sanders. Longer strokes = faster cut. Shorter strokes = a more refined and precise finish.

I don't really have the experience to validate that theory, as I have never used a long throw DA for polishing, but my logic suggests that to be true.

Similarly, forced rotation/orbit DAs may be faster than free-spinning DAs, especially when you need to use the pads edge, but based on my experience using a Rupes Millie (forced) and a Meguiar's MT300 (free spinning 8mm) on black vehicles, the MT300 finishes out better. Again, this is using the same pad and polish. Experimenting with different pads and polishes may close the gap somewhat, but if you are looking for the absolute best finish, I give the edge to the 8mm free-spinning DA.
