Re: And then... There was a G8 (Polisher)
Got my G8. Very nice polisher. Smooth. Power is good on speed 5(mainly use). Speed 6 spins the pad very fast. Speed 4 is OK(stalls somewhat easy). Anything below that is useless. I love using the Rupes 3.75” and 2.5” foam pads. The Rupes wool pads would probably work nice, too. I used the G8 and G9 to correct my new ‘19 GT Mustang GT. It didn’t need anything aggressive. The G8 and G9 are very capable machines.

Thanks for the feedback about the tools Mark.

Re: And then... There was a G8 (Polisher)
I received my G8 last week. I've used it a few times, and it is fantastic. I have not found an issue with spinning at speed 3, but that is my polishing speed. I cut on 5 or 6, depending on the paint.
The little G3 is still in my arsenal. I think it works fine with a 2" pad, just have to use full speed, and slow arm speed.
My G9 is a beast! I haven't used a 15mm since I got the G9. The thing kicks ass!

Re: And then... There was a G8 (Polisher)
I unfortunately drew short straw. Mine arrived the other day. I spun it up with no load and the speed would oscillate. I switched cord but made no difference. It’s mist prevalent at speed 3 where you can hear feel a slight bump. It does all the same stuff loaded as well. Going to try and swap out the brushes. If that doesn’t work it’s back to griots.
In the recent past I’ve had a failed G9, a failed Adams SK micro, a broken shelf on my detail cart and now this. Can only go up from here.

Troda - with a run like that, makes you wonder if you have a power (not cord) problem. Like something wrong on the service end so you’re getting dirty power supply.

This was in my house.200 amp service. Clean. G9 was at the shop. No issues with other polishers.

I noticed this today too!!! Feels as though the motor is skipping and bumping. Very prevalent. It does not do this on speed 4, 5, or 6. Only speeds 1-3. Calling Griots the next day they are open.

The SK Micro's battery powered, and a broken shelf too. He's having a bad run of luck obviously. Hopefully this will get it all out of his system and 2020 will be better.
