Re: Mothers CMX vs Sonax Polymer Net Shield long term durability test
May 25, 2019
Its been exactly 14 weeks today, 3.5 months so will be 4 months in 2 more weeks.
Both sides are still there. In an unfortunate twist of events the car has been parked outside for 4 last weeks on city streets.
It was then exposed to rain, pollen, construction fallout and city grime.
See attached pics to see the "spotting" left behind.
Car has not been handwashed, since I didn't have access to a garage. I do have garage access again now.
I ran the car through a touchless wash May 23, 2019 to remove most of the grime.
When I run the wipers, I can hear a scraping sound. Feeling the windshield there are now bonded contaminants. Appears most of the car has it. They were pouring cement, mixing cement and doing demo nearby where parked. This is why I'm hesitant really for a "pure" coating.
All the grime did impact beading and self cleaning on both sides. I will do a wash with N914 to see if it restores them as it is caked on.
PNS after rain
CMX after rain
Left PNS, right CMX
I will let it run 2 more weeks or so before I can repolish with Essence and apply Cancoat. MAYBE next wash I'll apply Megs HCW to CMX side and BSD to PNS side for fun.
As you can see they are both still there, doing their thing. I also hate white because of the "runs" from random places and how easily it gets dirty and dull looking lol.

Thanks for update, I've seen similar results from CMX. With all the rain we've had I think it's pretty impressive

Re: Mothers CMX vs Sonax Polymer Net Shield long term durability test
July 20, 2019
i apologize my early week count was off, Ijust realized
Ok good news and bad news. It has now been exactly 22 weeks.
Unfortunately at 19 weeks, the blower motor went out, no AC in ober 90 degree temps. Car had approximately 3k miles and went to to dealership for repair... My wife dropped it off and they washed it....
Didnt really appear to have damage or swirls, which is odd. However I do not know what the process or products were. So I need to discontinue the test. The test is compromised since the products used may have had glossifiers/wax etc.
I will say though 22 weeks in rained twice and everything is beading well. Take with a grain of salt now since who knows what may have been used on the car.
I apologize as I have been extremely busy, but I will come back and give my thoughts on both products.
I will say CMX is amazing on glass and windshields.

Re: Mothers CMX vs Sonax Polymer Net Shield long term durability test
^^ No need to say sorry to us! Thanks so much for the detailed status checks. This was a great thread. 19 weeks at time of being de-qualified is still very impressive for one coat of spray on, wipe off product. It shows why these are so popular these days.
I’ve been hearing how great CMX is on glass. How was it at 19 weeks? With its ease of use, and assuming it deflects water similar to a real coating, I could see this replacing window coatings. Your thoughts?
