This customer contacted me in the hopes that I could make the paint on his 06 BMW X5 in Alpine White shine again. Unfortunately, I was not able to take as many photographs as usual due to time constraints. This was an exterior only (interior vacuum thrown in for free).
Before:
The condition of the vehicle was not bad to start with. There were several scuffs, RIDS, and swirl marks throughout the paint. The customer admitted that the hood had been re-sprayed. There was heavy orange peel on the vertical panels, indicating that this vehicle was re-sprayed for one reason or another.
Wheels were cleaned with 1Z Colourtec followed by Meguiar's Wheel Brightener, followed by Stoners Tarminator.
These wheels were extremely dirty and unfortunately did not come out 100% perfect.
The paint work required some decontamination after a two bucket wash. 1Z Colourtec and a fine grade speedy prep towel were used.
The vehicle was dried and it was time to do a test spot. The clear on this vehicle was extremely hard. HD Adapt on an orange pad didn't do much for the swirl marks. FG400 on a microfiber cutting pad cut out most of the swirl marks on the hood. HD Polish on an Orange pad worked well on the rest of the panels. The customer paid for a one step polish and the point was to enhance the gloss. This was accomplished.
The tires were dressed with CarPro PERL and the trim and wheel wells were dressed with Stoner Trim Shine.
