Re: Orange Peel Removal via wet sanding 2009 Yukon Denali- Black

Wonderful work removing that orange peel. It's clear you informed yourself well, done your homework, and let your talent do the rest. Stunning results, my friend!

Our friends also included great addition to your thread.

Thanks for sharing, keep doing the great work.

    Kind Regards.

I actually removed the Logos to remove the OP underneath and around them using the CarPro Denim pads and M100

Because of the precise spacing of the individual letters, I decided to make a template to aid in the re-application

3M Double Stick Available on AGO.
I found it easiest to apply to the emblem and then cut with an sharp x-acto knife

I looked in to removing the wiper

The exploded diagram is a mess

Pulled the interior trim and it looks when more troublesome

In the end, I just left a little margin and sanded, compounded & polished around them

Removing it permanently would leave three holes to fill and probably require a repaint of the panel

That's some attention to "detail". Great work.

Great work, I just purchased a 2011 Maxima and I know it will be a fight NOT to sand the car.. .But I will try to resist. I don't have a paint gauge to determine if it would be a good Idea.

I've sanded and polished a car before but it was a respray with 3 coats of clear, we all know the deal with respray and factory clears, if not Mike has a great write-up about this topic.

Please, show the rest of the car I would love to see it.

Thanks for all of the complements

Like Mike P said...tape is very important and a great use of the 3M vinyl stuff (1/8"). I was very impressed with it. I thought the FLEX would blast it right off, if I buffed up against it...I was wrong

Already posted to this thread but had the pleasure to read it again and learn even more with you and with what our friends wrote.

Regarding the updates, that logo removal procedure was 'delicious' to see ahhaha Very clean work.

The point is, and you state it in your very first phrase in this thread:

'It s funny how there is no endpoint to this Detailing thing'

The more you improve a car, the more 'small details' will show up the need for more detailing, in order to match the rest of the car.

Reaching (or trying to) those details is (IMO) what makes some people stand from the majority.

    Bravo!

    Thanks for updating,

    Kind Regards.
